Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you're in the market for an electric vehicle, you've probably heard about the impending end of the $7,500 federal tax credit on September 30th. But Lucid is shaking things up with a clever strategy that could inspire other EV makers. In this post, I'll break down what Lucid is doing, speculate on whether brands like Tesla or Rivian might follow suit, and share some thoughts on their new Gravity X off-road beast. Plus, I'll hook you up with some must-have Tesla accessories. Let's dive in!
As you know, the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles is set to expire on September 30th. For Tesla buyers, that means you need to not only place your order but also take delivery by that date to qualify. (Pro tip: If you're ordering a Tesla, use a referral code like the one in my video description to snag three months of Full Self-Driving for free!)
Lucid, however, is taking a proactive stance. They're offering a $7,500 "Lucid Advantage Credit" for qualified buyers who place an order by September 30th but take delivery between October 1st and December 31st. This essentially extends the incentive on their end, fronting the cash themselves to keep sales rolling. It's one of the first moves like this I've seen from an OEM since the tax credit phased out years ago.
This is a smart play for Lucid, whose vehicles like the Air and upcoming Gravity are on the pricier side. It could pressure competitors to step up. Rivian hasn't announced anything yet—their messaging is more "hurry up and buy before it's gone"—but I wouldn't be surprised if they or others join in.
What about Tesla? As the low-cost leader in EVs, they might not need to, but imagine if they offered something like a $3,750 credit or bundled it with Full Self-Driving for orders placed before the deadline, even if delivery slips past September 30th. It would lock in commitments with that $250 deposit and keep the hype alive.
I'd love to hear your thoughts! Would you drop a deposit on a Tesla or another EV just to secure some version of the incentive? Comment below or hit me up on YouTube.
On top of the incentive news, Lucid just unveiled the Gravity X—an off-road variant of their SUV with a lifted suspension, roof rack, and rugged design. It's awesome to see EV brands pushing boundaries into adventure territory. More off-road EVs mean more options for those weekend warriors. What do you think of this trend? Are you eyeing an off-road EV?
Speaking of EVs, if you've bought or are about to buy a Tesla, you know it comes with zero accessories—not even a phone mount! Don't sweat it; I've got recommendations from my partner, Jowua.
Here are a few essentials every Tesla owner needs:
Jowua's gear is top-notch—I use it all myself. They also offer cool extras like a wireless game controller that fits in the glovebox, a portable air compressor for road trips, and even an electric scooter to zip around from chargers.
Use my promo code (check the video description) to save money and get free shipping on orders over $120. Thanks to Jowua for supporting the channel!
Lucid's move could be a game-changer for EV sales post-September 30th, and I'm excited to see if it spreads. If you're shopping for an EV, act fast—and don't forget those accessories to enhance your ride.
What are your plans? Buying before the deadline or waiting to see what incentives pop up? Let me know in the comments. If you enjoyed this, subscribe to my YouTube channel for more EV updates. Drive safe!
