Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you're a Tesla enthusiast like me, you've probably heard about the massive fleet of mysterious covered Model Y vehicles spotted at one of Tesla's factories. This sighting has sparked a ton of speculation in the EV community, and I wanted to dive into it based on my latest video. Let's break it down—what could these hidden gems be, and what does it mean for upcoming Tesla releases?
From the photos circulating online, it's clear Tesla is building up a huge inventory of these Model Ys, all shrouded in covers and even surrounded by a wall to keep prying eyes away. It's like Tesla is playing a game of hide-and-seek with its fans! The big question on everyone's mind: What variant is this? Could it be the more affordable Model Y, the high-octane Model Y Performance, or perhaps the Model Y Long Range (which I'll refer to as Model Y L for brevity)?
At first glance, it's tough to tell from the distant shots, but let's speculate based on recent developments. The Model Y L has already made its debut in China, and it's gearing up for releases in other markets. That said, I have a hunch this fleet might actually be the Model Y Performance. Tesla has a pattern of rolling out updates in Europe before the US—remember how we often get the short end of the stick stateside? I predict we'll see the Model Y Performance launch in Europe first, followed by a full US rollout in Q4, potentially including all three variants.
Speaking of the Model Y L, we're seeing more spottings of these covered units being transported to showrooms in China. It looks like deliveries are imminent, though I'm not sure if orders have officially opened yet. This rear-wheel-drive version is positioned as a budget-friendly option, priced cheaper than the all-wheel-drive models. Why go for a smaller vehicle with AWD and bigger range when you can get more space at a lower cost? It's a smart play by Tesla, and I imagine demand will be strong—people love value, especially in a spacious crossover like the Model Y.
Will it be a hit? Only time will tell, but the pricing makes it a no-brainer for many buyers. If you're in the market for a Tesla or already own one, I'd love to hear your thoughts! Drop a comment below: Do you think the Model Y L will dominate sales, or are you holding out for the Performance version?
Now, shifting gears a bit—once you've got your Tesla, you might be surprised to find it comes with zero accessories. Not even a basic phone mount! But don't worry, I've got recommendations from my go-to partner, Joa, who specializes in top-notch Tesla gear.
In my experience, every Tesla owner needs a few must-haves:
I use all of Joa's products myself, and they're fantastic. Plus, they've got cool extras like a wireless game controller that fits in the glove box, a portable air compressor for road trips, and even an electric scooter to zip around from chargers—no more walking!
