Hey everyone, DennisCW here! Today, I’m thrilled to share the journey of picking up our second Tesla Cybertruck. If you’ve been following the channel, you know there’s a backstory to why this is our second replacement Cybertruck (check out the previous videos for the full scoop). But let me tell you, this delivery experience was a rollercoaster of excitement, frustration, and a few surprises. Buckle up as I walk you through the entire process at the Tesla store, the condition of the truck, and the sweet deal we scored.
The day started with a mix of anticipation and curiosity. We headed to the Tesla store to pick up our new Cybertruck, and I couldn’t wait to see what this one had in store for us. As we arrived, I noticed a Cybertruck in the lot with a peculiar color—frost blue, or so I thought. Under the direct sunlight, it looked almost white. Was it a new Tesla color or a wrap? After a closer look (and a little confusion), we realized it was indeed a wrap. Gotta admit, it fooled us for a second!
However, finding our Cybertruck wasn’t as straightforward. We were already 30 minutes late to our 11:00 AM appointment (thanks to a quick lunch stop), but there wasn’t a single clean Cybertruck ready for delivery in sight. We wandered around the parking lot, checking for temporary plates and flashing lights on the app, but no luck. There were dusty trucks sitting in the lot, some with plates, and I started to worry ours might be the grimy one that looked like it had been sitting there for a year. Spoiler alert: I wasn’t far off.
One of the biggest frustrations of the day was the wait. Tesla’s delivery process has become more streamlined over the years—you can pretty much handle everything through the app now, from accepting documents to confirming your arrival. We breezed through those steps, but the truck? Not ready. At 11:37 AM, we were told they were “polishing” it. By 11:50 AM, still no truck. Finally, at 12:10 PM—over an hour after our appointment time—the Cybertruck rolled out. They mentioned it had been sitting on the lot for a while (possibly a year and a half), so they were doing some “final touches.” I appreciated the effort, but let’s just say the results didn’t quite match the hype.
When the Cybertruck finally pulled up, I was eager to check it out. This is a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck Foundation Series All-Wheel Drive, and on paper, it’s a steal. We snagged it with 0% financing (a rare Tesla deal right now), and since it’s a Foundation Series, it comes with Full Self-Driving and free Supercharging for life. But the condition? Let’s just say it didn’t scream “brand new.”
I’m pretty understanding about this. It’s an “old new” truck, and we got a great deal because of it. But for a new car delivery, the condition should’ve been better. I spoke with the delivery advisor, who documented everything and offered to see if we could get a service credit. They even threw in the possibility of a voucher, which I’ll likely use for a professional detail (something I shouldn’t have to pay for, but oh well).
Here’s a lighthearted moment from the day: the service associate initially offered a month of free Full Self-Driving or Supercharging as compensation. I had to remind him that this Foundation Series Cybertruck already comes with both for life. He was genuinely surprised, and we had a good laugh about it. He went back to the manager to figure out an alternative solution, so stay tuned for updates on that.
Despite the rocky delivery experience, I’ve gotta say—it feels amazing to be back in a Cybertruck. We were without one for about a month, and I forgot how much utility and ease this beast offers. From Home Depot runs to just cruising around, the steer-by-wire system makes driving a breeze. It’s a unique feeling, and I’m excited to have it back in our lineup.
This delivery was a mixed bag. We were at the store for nearly two hours, waiting over an hour past our appointment time for a truck that wasn’t even properly cleaned. I’m giving Tesla the benefit of the doubt here—the team tried their best, and I appreciate their willingness to work with us on a solution. But there’s no denying the condition of the truck was disappointing for a new vehicle.
That said, the adventure doesn’t end here. Since this Cybertruck has been sitting for so long, I’m expecting some quirks and gremlins to pop up. I’ve already noticed a few more issues beyond what I mentioned, and I’ll be diving into everything wrong with this truck in the next video. All in all, I’m thrilled to have another Cybertruck, especially with the incredible deal we got (0% financing, free Supercharging, and Full Self-Driving). But the delivery experience and the condition of the vehicle left a lot to be desired. If you’ve had a similar Tesla delivery experience—good or bad—I’d love to hear about it. Drop a comment below with your thoughts or any questions you have about this Cybertruck. Thanks for joining me on this journey, and I’ll see you in the next one!
