That said, I believe the real demand spike is with the rear-wheel drive (RWD) variants. Why? They're the most affordable option, offer the longest range, and come with the lowest lease payments. Inventory discounts on these have vanished, and in some areas, they're not even in stock. This could explain the extended wait times specifically for RWD models.

Is Tesla strategically ramping down RWD production to push higher-margin AWD sales? It's possible—they've been discounting AWD models to move them. But Tesla's all about volume, so deliberately limiting RWD doesn't fully add up. Either way, it's a fascinating development that could be driving this FOMO wave.
