Hey everyone, DennisCW here! A few days ago, I shared a walkaround of the stunning new Tesla Model S. Since the car was locked during that first look, I promised I’d get back to you with an in-depth interior tour. Well, I’m excited to say that today’s the day! Let’s hop inside this beauty, explore its features, and compare it to my own 2022 Model S refresh to spot the differences. Buckle up and let’s dive in!
As I approached the Model S, the door presented itself with that signature Tesla flair. At first glance, the interior design feels familiar—especially that iconic Model S badge on the trim. Having owned a 2022 refresh, I can confidently say that while some elements remain unchanged, there are subtle updates that catch the eye.
The ambient LED lighting is still here, though it’s not as vibrant in broad daylight (more on that later). The wireless charger upfront is identical to the previous model, and the steering wheel design hasn’t seen any major overhaul. But as we dig deeper into the menus and features, the differences start to emerge.
One of the first things I noticed is the central touchscreen interface. The font appears slightly smaller, and the layout feels a bit more refined. Scrolling through the menu options like Controls, Dynamics, and Custom settings, everything is incredibly responsive—perhaps even more so than the Model 3. It makes sense, given that the Model S likely boasts a higher refresh rate screen.
Some standout features in the menu include:
I also noticed a neat UI tweak when the trunk was open—it displayed a different visual on the screen, which is a nice touch. If you spot anything I might’ve missed in the menus, drop a comment below!
Sitting in the driver’s seat, the Model S feels as premium as ever. This particular unit, with just 28 miles on the odometer, has an MSRP of $81,000, featuring a sleek Stealth Gray exterior and a black Ebony interior. Notably, Full Self-Driving (FSD) wasn’t listed in the specs on this one.
Moving to the back seat, I tested the comfort level as a 5’9” guy. There’s decent legroom, enough for a road trip, though I wouldn’t want to be crammed in for an ultra-long haul. A cool addition in the rear is what appears to be wireless chargers (though I couldn’t confirm if they were active). There’s also a small storage area for your belongings and a rear screen for added convenience. The massive glass roof overhead continues to impress, flooding the cabin with natural light.
Underneath the seats, subtle RGB ambient lighting is present, though, like the front, it’s hard to appreciate in daylight. I’m curious to see how it looks at night—let me know if you’ve checked it out after dark!
Popping open the trunk, I was greeted with a familiar layout, complete with a hard shell shelf. The Model S offers a decent amount of storage, and like the Model Y, there are switches to fold down the rear seats for extra space. However, unlike the Model Y’s motorized folding, here you have to manually push the seats down after unlocking them with the switch. A small but notable difference!
Overall, the new Tesla Model S feels like a polished evolution of its predecessor. While many design elements and features remain consistent with the 2022 refresh, the updated UI, subtle interface tweaks, and minor functionality changes set it apart. That said, to truly appreciate the differences, you’ve got to experience this car in person. Videos and photos can only show so much!
