Hey everyone, DennisCW here! Tesla has just made the Model Y a bit more affordable with a sweet $2,000 discount on certain trims through a revised lease offer. In today’s post, I’m breaking down the details of this deal, how it’s structured, and what other exciting updates are happening in the Tesla world. Let’s dive right in!
Thanks to Brendan for spotting this update on Tesla’s website! Tesla has lowered the down payment for leasing a Model Y to just $1,000 (plus taxes and fees) for both the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) trims, down from the previous $3,000. This makes getting into a Model Y much more accessible for those who don’t want to shell out a big upfront cost.
However, the deals vary slightly between trims:
This move by Tesla is intriguing, especially as we see other offers like the 1.99% financing deal (set to end on June 16th), a $2,000 loyalty offer for older Model Ys, and various other incentives like the America’s Heroes $1,000 discount. If you’re considering a Tesla, now might be the time to lock in these deals before potential changes later in the year.
Tesla is clearly strategizing to boost sales as we approach the end of Q2. Alongside the lease updates, they’re offering perks like three months of Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability for free if you use a referral code (check the link in the description of my video for mine!). There are also hints of inventory incentives and other regional offers that could sweeten the deal further. Keep an eye out, as Tesla often shifts around $1,000 to $2,000 in incentives to target different buyer groups.
With Elon Musk back to spending 24/7 at Tesla, X, and xAI (as he recently posted), we might see a shift in how Tesla approaches incentives and discounts. Elon has historically been less enthusiastic about heavy discounting or perks like FSD transfers and 0% financing offers. As developments like the Robotaxi and new AI technologies roll out, he might place higher value on features like FSD, potentially impacting current deals.
There’s also uncertainty around the $7,500 federal tax credit, which could be on the chopping block. This, combined with potential inventory discounts of up to $5,000 by year-end, might create some anxiety for prospective buyers. If you’re risk-averse, locking in the current 1.99% financing could be a smart move.
Speaking of FSD, I came across a post from a viewer who’s hesitant to pay the current $8,000 price tag but would jump at $3,000. What do you think? Is $3,000 too low, considering the subscription option is $100/month (equating to $6,000 over 5 years)? I’m thinking a sweet spot of $4,000 to $5,000 might attract more buyers. Drop your thoughts in the comments—I’d love to hear at what price you’d consider getting FSD!
On the product front, there’s buzz around a Model S and X refresh. Recent sightings show new colors (possibly paint or a Flexi Shield wrap) on these vehicles, spotted around Tesla factory areas with consumer plates—no manufacturer tags. Oddly, there’s no front camera visible, raising questions about whether these are test units or something else. Tesla seems to be building hype by parading these vehicles openly, so stay tuned for more updates.
There’s also a cryptic post from Zong Wen, a reliable source for Tesla rumors, hinting at a “surprise” next week. Could this be a new incentive from the China market trickling to the US, or a product release in early June? We’ll have to wait and see!

Tesla is making strategic moves to make the Model Y more accessible with this $2,000 lease discount on the AWD trim, alongside other incentives like 1.99% financing. With Elon Musk back at the helm and exciting developments like Robotaxi and new vehicle refreshes on the horizon, it’s an exciting time to be in the Tesla community. However, with potential changes to incentives and tax credits looming, now might be the perfect window to snag a deal.
What are your thoughts on these updates? Are you tempted by the new Model Y lease offer, or are you holding out for bigger discounts? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to check out the Jowua accessories with my promo code. Until next time, stay charged!
