4. Enter your zip code, but switch the filter to All Deliverable. This will show you the maximum number of vehicles available, even if they’re a few hours’ drive away.
5. Look for discounts displayed on the top left of each vehicle image. You’ll see tags like “$500 off” or “$1,000 off.”

While browsing, I found discounts ranging from $130 to $1,220. Keep in mind that the highest discounts often apply to demo vehicles or launch series units, which may have some mileage on them. I’ll share my thoughts on whether these are worth it in the next section.

Are Demo Vehicles Worth the Discount?

Many of the discounted Model Ys are demo vehicles, meaning they might have been used for test drives, showroom displays, or even 48-hour test drive programs. As a result, they often come with mileage—typically around 2,000 miles. While a $1,000 discount on a vehicle with 2,000 miles might sound tempting, I personally think the discount needs to be more substantial to justify the wear.

Here’s my rule of thumb:

• I’d want at least $1 off per mile of usage. So, for a vehicle with 2,000 miles, I’d expect a $2,000 discount.
• Ideally, I’d hold out for $2 per mile, meaning a $4,000 discount on a 2,000-mile vehicle.

To give you some perspective, I’ve purchased a demo Model Y in the past with 888 miles on it and scored a $4,000 discount. That felt like a steal! So, while the current discounts are a good start, I’d advise waiting for bigger reductions as we approach the end of June. Tesla often ramps up discounts toward the end of a quarter, so stay tuned.
