Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you're as excited as I am about the Tesla Model Y Performance, you're probably glued to every update. We've got some fresh footage from Europe showing off this beast in action, and it's got me hyped for its US release. But if you're holding out for it, I have some advice that could save you time, money, and frustration. Let's dive in.
Recently, a new video surfaced of the Model Y Performance launching like a rocket. Europe already has access to these, and from what we've seen— including those stunning ultra-red photos from Top Gear—it's a stunner. Test drives are even kicking off in 26 locations across the UK and Europe. It's clear the demand is building, but here in the US, we're still waiting.
I can't wait for this to hit our shores, but that's exactly why I'm urging caution if you're planning to snag one.
If you're eyeing the Model Y Performance, especially in the US, here's my pitch: Don't put all your eggs in one basket. We have no concrete details on the release date or pricing yet. What if it drops with a hefty price tag—say, $5,000, $10,000, or even $15,000 more than expected? Factor in the $7,500 federal tax credit available on the all-wheel-drive (AWD) versions, and suddenly the math might not add up.
Imagine this scenario: You skip ordering an AWD Model Y now, banking on the Performance model. Then, when it launches, the price is a deal-breaker. By that point, switching back to the Long Range AWD could mean missing out on that tax credit window, leaving you high and dry.
That's why I recommend a simple backup strategy: Put down a $250 deposit on a Model Y Long Range AWD right now. This locks in your eligibility for the $7,500 tax credit. If the Performance turns out to be too pricey (Tesla might hike it due to high demand), you can always pivot to the Long Range with the $2,000 acceleration boost upgrade. It's still incredibly fast and gives you most of the thrill without the premium cost.
Sure, the Performance comes with nicer wheels, seats, and other perks, but having options is key. I'm even planning to do this myself as a safety net. What do you think? Are you adopting this strategy? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
If you're going this route, don't forget to use a Tesla referral code—like the one in my video description. It could score you up to $1,000 off your vehicle and some free Supercharging. Plus, using my code supports the channel—thanks to everyone who's done that already!
Once you've got your Tesla (or while you're waiting), remember: It comes with zero accessories. Not even a phone mount! But don't stress—I've got recommendations from my partner, Joah, whose gear I use daily.
Here are a few must-haves:
Joah goes beyond the basics too:
Use my promo code (in the description) to save money and get free shipping on orders over $120. It supports the channel too—thanks, Joah, for the partnership!
The Model Y Performance is shaping up to be epic, but smart planning ensures you don't miss out on deals like the tax credit. Whether you're locking in a backup or gearing up with accessories, stay ahead of the game. Let me know your plans below—what's your Tesla strategy?
Drive safe, and I'll catch you in the next update!
