Hey everyone, DennisCW here! I recently got my hands on the brand new Tesla Model Y Performance, and while it's an absolute beast in many ways, it's not perfect. 'Hate' might be too strong a word, but there are five things that are bugging me. Let's dive in and talk about them honestly.
I know, I know—this is a performance model with 21-inch wheels and sport suspension. You'd expect it to be firm, but Tesla as a whole still has room to improve on ride quality. It's jarring over bumps, and even in a badass vehicle like this, it feels like they could do better. Fingers crossed they get there someday.
The seats look killer and feel comfortable overall, but the front bolstering is a bit funky. Maybe it's because they don't sit as low as in some other cars—feels like they're on a box to raise them up. I'm still adjusting, but it's not quite right yet.
This one's across all Tesla models: the rear window is tiny and sloped, making it nearly useless. I rely on the high-quality cameras now, but there's no fixing the physical visibility issues. The back view is just not great.
Despite being a crossover, the Model Y runs into space limitations fast. Seats folded down, we've got boxes in here, but for a family with more than one kid? It's going to feel tight. Not the roomy hauler you might expect.
The wipers don't do a great job cleaning the massive windshield. Mine's filthy even after running them, and they sometimes activate randomly. Tesla really needs to sort this out—it's a persistent issue.
What do you think? Have you experienced these with your Model Y? Drop a comment below, and if you're loving the Performance model despite these quirks (like I mostly am), smash that like button and subscribe for more Tesla content!
Thanks for reading—drive safe!
