Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you're a car enthusiast like me, you know how important it is to keep your ride looking pristine. In my latest video, I took my truck to 24K Shine for a post-road trip wash and some upgrades. We just got back from Palm Springs, and while the truck held up pretty well, it was time for some TLC. Today, I'm breaking down the perks of ceramic coating, why 24K Shine stands out, and how adding Paint Protection Film (PPF) to my light bar is a game-changer. Let's dive in!
What sets 24K Shine apart isn't just the ceramic coating itself—it's the full package. When you get your vehicle coated here, it includes professional paint correction, thorough prepping, and the coating application. But Andre, the owner, goes the extra mile. He schedules a follow-up wash and inspection within a week to ensure everything is holding up perfectly. As a detailer at heart, his focus is on long-term protection for your car's paint throughout its life.
Unlike some shops that slap on a coating and call it a day, 24K Shine prioritizes quality and maintenance. It's all about keeping your vehicle protected and shiny for the long haul.
After our Palm Springs adventure, the truck was covered in dust, bugs, and grime—but thanks to the existing ceramic coating and PPF wrap, it wasn't a total disaster. The coating did its job, keeping things relatively shiny. We did a quick walk-around, and you could see the protection in action.
During the wash, I was blown away (pun intended) by how the water beads and rolls off effortlessly. That's the magic of ceramic coating—it creates a hydrophobic barrier that repels dirt and water, making maintenance a breeze. If you're like me and sometimes slack on washes, this is a lifesaver. A quick spray-down and air dry can get you about 80% clean without a full detail. It keeps your car looking sharper for longer!
Andre shared some insider tips during the wash:
Slick Barrier for Scratch Prevention: The ceramic coating creates a super-slick surface. When washing, use a thick layer of soap to emulsify and pull down dirt without much pressure. This reduces the risk of swirls and scratches—unlike on uncoated surfaces where you'd need to scrub harder.
Avoid DIY and Unlimited Washes: Even with ceramic, steer clear of those automated brush washes. They can still cause damage. Touchless washes? They're tricky. They use harsh high and low pH chemicals to "shock" off grime, which might strip your coating over time.
Andre recommends touchless only if it's a well-maintained spot—like the one in Bristol he uses. Look for newer, clean facilities where owners check water quality and levels regularly. Pro tip: He even sent me a link to his go-to place!
We finished with a blow dry to remove all water, leaving the truck spotless and ready for the next step.
While we were there, we added PPF to the light bar on top of the truck. Positioned high up, it catches tons of bugs and debris from the road. PPF will make cleaning way easier and keep it looking fresh—no more stubborn bug splatters ruining the vibe.
If your vehicle has exposed elements like this, PPF is a smart add-on. It pairs perfectly with ceramic coating for ultimate protection.
Ceramic coating isn't just about that initial gloss—it's about making your life easier. It protects against the elements, simplifies cleaning, and extends the life of your paint. If you want your car to stay cleaner longer with minimal effort, I highly recommend it. Shoutout to Andre and the team at 24K Shine for their top-notch service!
