Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you've been following my channel, you know we've been hitting the road hard with our Tesla Cybertruck. That's exactly why we got it – to supercharge and drive endlessly. But one accessory that's taken our trips to the next level isn't even a official Cybertruck add-on: a portable car refrigerator. I wanted something affordable, practical, and easy to integrate, so I scoured Amazon reviews and landed on the Rogue refrigerator. Today, I'm sharing why I chose it, where I installed it, and my honest review. Let's dive in!
Road trips mean snacks, drinks, and in our case, keeping dog food cool for our furry passengers. We didn't want to rely on gas station stops or melting coolers. A proper fridge that runs off the truck's power was a game-changer. But not just any spot would do – I avoided the frunk and trunk for good reasons (more on that below). Instead, I placed it in the back seat for easy access and optimal performance.
I installed the fridge right on the floor between the front and back seats. It's wedged perfectly in place, and with my driving position (I'm about 5'9"), it doesn't interfere at all. If you're taller, you might need to shift it to the passenger side.
Here's how it's powered:
This setup is family-friendly too – it fits alongside car seats or even with pets in the back. No need for complicated mods; it's simple and effective.
The fridge snugly fits on the back seat floor.
You might think the truck bed or frunk (front trunk) would be ideal, but here's why I skipped them:
Trunk/Bed Issues: There's power outlets back there, but in hot climates like California, the area heats up quickly. This can cause the fridge to overheat and shut down – defeating the purpose of keeping things cool!
Frunk Limitations: No built-in power outlet, so you'd need modifications (shoutout to friends at Cyber Odyssey for their cool setups). I wanted something straightforward without hacking the truck.
By keeping it in the cabin, the fridge benefits from the AC and stays efficient, ensuring our food and drinks remain chilled no matter the outside temperature.
I went with the Rogue model (around 20-30L capacity – check the exact specs on Amazon). It's been a champ on our trips:
Pros:
Cons:
Overall, it's a solid 9/10 for road trippers. If you're in a Tesla or any EV, this is a must-have for hassle-free adventures.
Our Cybertruck has racked up tons of supercharging miles in just two months (stay tuned for a video on that!). Adding this fridge has made our trips even better – no more warm sodas or spoiled snacks. If you're considering one, grab the Rogue from Amazon (link below) and let me know in the comments which size you go for!
