Hey everyone, DennisCW here! After owning the Tesla Cybertruck for over a year and a half and putting nearly 20,000 miles on it, it’s time for my final review. We’re getting rid of this beast, but before we do, I want to share the three things I hate about it—and the many things I absolutely love. Let’s dive in!
First up, let’s talk about efficiency. The Cybertruck is a big, heavy metal truck, so I wasn’t expecting stellar range, but I’ve never gotten more than about 240 miles on a full charge. Realistically, if you’re only using 80% of the battery to preserve its longevity, you’re looking at around 180-200 miles of real-world range before needing to plug in again. This isn’t a dealbreaker, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind if you’re considering buying one, especially for long trips.
Next, the infamous fingerprints. I completely forgot about this issue because my Cybertruck has been wrapped in various colors (three different wraps, to be exact) since I got it. The latest wrap is a Flex Shield paint protection film, which looks awesome. However, without a wrap, the stainless steel exterior collects fingerprints like crazy. If you’re getting a Cybertruck, I highly recommend figuring out a wrap color or at least a clear wrap to minimize this annoyance.
Lastly, while this is marketed as a rugged truck, the interior leathers and exterior plastics are surprisingly soft and prone to damage. I’ve already ripped part of the interior when a camera fell on it, and the exterior plastics have taken a beating—especially in areas that collect dirt. I even scraped the bottom while off-roading because it sits pretty low in some spots. For a truck that’s supposed to be tough, it shows wear and tear more easily than I’d like.
Despite those gripes, there’s a ton I genuinely love about this vehicle. Here are my top highlights after all these miles.
The Cybertruck is incredibly comfortable, thanks to its air suspension. Whether you’re cruising on the highway or navigating bumpy roads, it handles everything smoothly. It’s a game-changer for long drives.
If you haven’t driven a Cybertruck, I urge you to visit your local Tesla store and test one out (some locations let you borrow it for a couple of days, like I did). The steer-by-wire system and four-wheel steering make it one of the easiest Tesla vehicles to drive. The steering wheel doesn’t require endless turning motions—it’s effortless and intuitive. Honestly, it’s a joy to maneuver, even for a truck this size.
This is my first time owning a truck, and I’m hooked on the convenience. Whether it’s Home Depot runs, picking up furniture, or hauling random stuff, the spacious truck bed has been a lifesaver. It’s made tasks so much easier, and I’ve come to appreciate the practicality of owning a truck.
Lastly, the noise cancellation in the Cybertruck is fantastic. Driving over 80 mph on a road trip feels solid and planted, and the cabin stays quiet enough to have conversations, listen to music, or enjoy podcasts without any distractions. It’s a surprisingly refined experience for such a bold-looking vehicle.
Overall, I’d say the Tesla Cybertruck is a phenomenal vehicle. Yes, it has its flaws, but the things I love about it far outweigh the negatives. With rumors of better deals coming later this year, it might be worth taking a closer look if you’re in the market for a unique, futuristic truck. I’ve had an incredible time owning this one, and I’m excited to see what Tesla does next with it.
