Hey everyone, DennisCW here! What an incredible day at the Tesla Buena Park showroom. We got a hot tip about one of the very first Tesla Model Y Performance deliveries in the US – and possibly the first in Southern California. Deliveries haven't even officially started yet, but this beauty was sitting there, ready for its close-up. Quicksilver exterior with a sleek black interior? Let's dive into every detail from my hands-on walkthrough.
Imagine this Quicksilver shine in the SoCal sun!
Right off the bat, the Quicksilver paint pops with those 21-inch all-black Arachnid wheels and fiery red Brembo calipers. The front bumper screams performance with its gloss black trim – low and aggressive, begging for a matte or stealth wrap. Around back, the massive carbon fiber spoiler steals the show (expect aftermarket copies soon!), paired with performance badging, a gloss black rear diffuser, and subtle matte accents. Build quality? Spot-on alignments and solid panel gaps.
Tires are Hankook iON evo all-seasons, and the stance is lowered perfectly thanks to the performance suspension. Gloss black mirrors add to the stealth vibe. Oh, and that rear LED light bar alignment? Minor nitpick from early spotters, but it looks great in person.
We got the green light to sit inside – my first time in one of these pre-delivery beasts! The seats are phenomenal: ultra-bolstered, super snug, and insanely comfortable. Black vegan leather wraps carbon fiber accents on the doors and dash. No "Performance" badging on the seats (just standard Model Y felt), but aluminum pedals and more carbon fiber trim confirm this is the real deal.
The steering yoke (or wheel?) with turn signals had me double-checking – still getting used to it! Switched to dark mode (light mode hurts my eyes), and the center console is packed: cup holders, performance ambient lighting from the doors, and even an interior camera.
These bolsters hug you just right.
Back seat? Spacious as ever with the rear screen and panoramic glass roof. Trunk space is Model Y standard: fold-flat seats, parcel shelf (kinda fiddly), and a lower frunk with mobile connector, J1772 adapter – perfect for plugging in a hairdryer on Christmas (shoutout to Everyday Chris!). Frunk has a drain plug for ice bucket duty.
The window sticker spilled the beans:
Energy screen showed 64% charge (195 miles), with trips logging 326 Wh/mi average and a 368 kW peak charge. Dynamics menu? Chill, Standard, Sport, Insane – plus ride/handling tweaks, steering weight, and stability assists. Full Self-Driving (FSD v12?) is loaded, running software 13.2.9 (updating as we speak). Adaptive headlights sync with music – fun feature!
Door close? Satisfying thud. Everything feels premium.
This Quicksilver/Black combo might be the first in SoCal. Deliveries are ramping up soon – if you're grabbing one in LA, hit me up; I'd love to crash your pickup!
