Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you're a Tesla enthusiast like me, you're probably buzzing about the latest leaks and news from the EV world. In my recent video, I dove into some breaking developments, including a potential game-changer for families: a six-seater Model Y that's reportedly rolling off the production line. Let's break it all down in this post, from the leaks to other Tesla tidbits. Remember, these are based on unverified sources, so take them with a grain of salt – but they're definitely intriguing!
A leaked post from TC Mesla (a source I'm not super familiar with, so massive grain of salt here) suggests that a refreshed six-seater Model Y has started production at Gigafactory Shanghai. This isn't just a minor tweak; there are some notable changes that could make this version a must-have for larger families.
Improved Third-Row Space: The design behind the C-pillar has been altered, likely to boost headroom in the third row. If you've ever squeezed into the current Model Y's third row, you know it's tiny – not ideal for regular use, especially with kids or car seats. This update could make it way more practical.
Longer Wheelbase: It's confirmed to be extended by an estimated 15-20 cm. Every inch counts when it comes to comfort and accessibility, and this could make getting in and out of that third row a breeze.
Ventilated Seats and New Wheels: The second-row seats feature perforations, hinting at ventilation (a nice upgrade for those hot days), while the third row keeps it basic. Plus, there's a different wheel design – possibly to handle the added weight or just for a fresh look.
Another post from Zongwen (a more familiar name in Tesla leak circles) backs this up, confirming production at Shanghai but noting no images due to "extreme confidentiality." I'm excited about the potential layout – think captain's chairs in the second row, similar to the Model X. This would be a huge win for families, making it easier to access the third row without folding seats or wrestling with car seats. No more awkward maneuvers!
Is this something worth waiting for? If you're in the market for a Model Y and need that extra seating, absolutely. It could roll out in China soon – maybe even this quarter – with a US release following a month or two later. Tesla often tests the waters in China before going global, so keep an eye on the next earnings call (just a week away as I write this).
What do you think? Would a six-seater Model Y with better third-row access tempt you? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
Tesla's world never sleeps, and here are a few more highlights from the video:
Tesla Diner Mystery: A sign on the door says "Open 24/7." Could this mean robots serving food? With Tesla's push into robotics (hello, Optimus!), I'd love to grab a bite from a bot. This could be a fun, futuristic addition to the Supercharger network.
Model Y Launches in India: Great news for Indian fans – the Model Y is now available! Prices are steep due to tariffs: Rear-Wheel Drive at $69,000 and Long Range All-Wheel Drive at $79,000. Still, it's a step toward broader EV adoption.
Leadership Shakeup: Troy Jones, Tesla's VP of North American Sales and Service, is leaving after 15 years. Best wishes to him! This comes at a time when Tesla's service varies by location, and deliveries (like my recent Cybertruck experience) could use some polish. Tesla's product is top-tier, but as competition heats up, customer experience and Full Self-Driving (FSD) will be key differentiators. Speaking of FSD...
Quick PSA on FSD: If you're taking delivery of a Tesla soon and want FSD for half off, DM me on Instagram – I can point you in the right direction!
One more thing: If you're gearing up to finance a Tesla, protect your credit first. Bank of America recently had a data breach and didn't notify customers for a month – scary stuff! Most breaches take 277 days to report, leaving your info exposed.
That's why I use Aura, today's sponsor. Aura scans the dark web for your personal info (social, bank details, etc.) and alerts you instantly. It also reduces spam calls, removes your data from shady sites, and includes $5 million in identity theft insurance – all in one app.
