Hey everyone, DennisCW here! After an incredible journey spanning over a year and a half, it’s time to bid farewell to our 2024 Tesla Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive Foundation Series. This beast of a vehicle, which we picked up for $100,000 (plus taxes and fees) back in December 2023, has been through a lot with us. From epic road trips to wild modifications and even a few hiccups along the way, it’s been a ride to remember. In this post, I’m breaking down our experiences, the mods we’ve done, the issues we faced, and why we’re ultimately parting ways with this specific Cybertruck. Let’s dive in!
We’ve had this Cybertruck for about 16-17 months now, racking up over 17,000 miles on the odometer. It all started with a crazy road trip from Austin, Texas, back when autopilot wasn’t even a thing on this model. We made countless supercharging stops (way too many, if I’m honest) and eventually saw the addition of Full Self-Driving capability, which was a game-changer.
This truck wasn’t just a daily driver—it was a canvas for creativity and adventure. We took it off-roading multiple times, showcasing its rugged capabilities on the channel. We also experimented with a ton of modifications, turning heads wherever we went. However, now it’s back to completely stock form as we prepare to say goodbye.
One of the most exciting parts of owning this Cybertruck was the ability to customize it to our heart’s content. Here’s a rundown of some of the standout mods we did over the past year:
Each modification was a learning experience, and while not everything worked out perfectly, they made this Cybertruck truly ours.
As much as we loved this Cybertruck, it wasn’t without its fair share of problems. Being one of the early models with a super low VIN, we expected some teething issues, and boy, did we get them. Here are the major challenges we encountered:
Despite these setbacks, Tesla’s service team was responsive, and we managed to keep the truck on the road for most of our ownership.
So, why are we parting ways with this Cybertruck after all the memories and miles? Tesla offered us a buyback through an interesting program they’re running. While we didn’t get all our money back, we did recover a significant portion of what we paid. From what I understand, this program might be an option for other Cybertruck owners looking to move on, especially if their vehicle has had recurring issues. If your truck has been trouble-free, though, it’s unlikely Tesla would approve a buyback.
If you’re considering getting out of your Cybertruck, it might be worth looking into this program. Drop a comment below if you’ve got questions about the process, and I’ll do my best to help!
Here’s the big question: after everything, would we buy another Cybertruck? The short answer is yes. Despite the challenges, this vehicle has been phenomenal in so many ways. It’s a head-turner, a conversation starter, and an absolute blast to drive. I’ll dive deeper into our thoughts on potentially getting another one in a future video, so stay tuned for that.
Owning this Tesla Cybertruck for over a year has been an unforgettable experience. From the mods to the off-road adventures to the inevitable issues, it’s been a rollercoaster of a journey. I’m grateful for all the support from you guys—your likes, comments, and subscriptions mean the world to me.
