Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you're a Tesla enthusiast like me, you've probably been keeping a close eye on the federal tax credit situation. In my latest video, I dove into some exciting updates confirming that the $7,500 point-of-sale discount is still kicking for 2026 models—especially if you locked in your order before September 30th. Let's break it all down in this blog post, including user stories, vehicle refreshes, and a few fun Tesla tidbits. Remember, things can change fast, so stay tuned!
Great news for those who jumped on the pre-September 30th ordering bandwagon: the $7,500 federal tax credit is being applied directly at delivery as a discount. No need to mess with tax filings next year! This applies to folks with binding order agreements from the old program.
A big shoutout to Tiko Escobar, who recently picked up their 2026 Tesla Model 3 and confirmed the discount was deducted right at the point of sale. As a bonus, the delivery included the mobile connector—a $300 value that's perfect for on-the-go charging. (Note: This isn't the wall connector, but it's still a sweet addition.)
Of course, Tesla's website has a disclaimer: They're not liable for program changes, and they recommend taking delivery ASAP since the incentive could end without notice. I've scoured the IRS pages myself, and while orders before September 30th qualify as long as you take possession later, there's no clear cutoff date listed. Some AI tools suggest December 31st, 2025, but that's not official. We'll have to watch for any IRS updates—I'll keep you posted!
The excitement doesn't stop there. Jay Bailey shared on the Tesla Motors Group forum: "To answer my own question, wife ordered on September 30th and picked up the Y today. Point of sale credit. It was even on a different configuration and she went to Palm Springs to get it. Was definitely worth the $250 gamble and the 7,500 federal tax credit."
What's cool here is that even if you tweak your configuration (like switching from a Model Y Performance to Long Range), the original September 30th order date seems to hold, keeping you eligible for the credit. If you're waiting on a Model 3 Performance, hang tight—deliveries are ramping up with fresh updates visible in the app, like the front bumper camera and black badges.
Props to Ed Edson, who's been patiently waiting since September 7th. These delays make sense now; Tesla was prepping a refresh and didn't want to ship outdated models.
Speaking of refreshes, the 2026 Model 3 comes loaded with upgrades: a front bumper camera for better visibility, a turn stalk for easier signaling, and sleek black badges. It's all about that premium feel.
On the speculation front, what if the rumored $25,000 Tesla (or Model 2) is actually the RoboTaxi in disguise? Imagine a budget-friendly EV with real wheels and colors—maybe even an option for a steering wheel. It could be the accessible Tesla we've been waiting for!
And for some Halloween fun, Tesla just dropped an Optimus robot baby outfit. This adorable bot onesie is available on Tesla.com—perfect for tiny Tesla fans. Who knew robots could be this cute?
If you're gearing up for your Tesla, don't forget to get the most value from your current ride. We've partnered with givemethevin.com to help you sell your vehicle for top dollar. Viewers have scored $3,000 more than Tesla's trade-in offers—check the link in my video description to support the channel!
New Tesla owners, heads up: Your car comes with zero accessories. Not even a phone mount! That's why I recommend essentials from our partner Joah:
Joah's got more goodies like a wireless game controller, portable air compressor, and even an electric scooter for zipping around superchargers. Use my promo code (in the video description) for savings and free shipping on orders over $120. I use their stuff myself—it's top-notch!
If you've got a pending Model 3 or Model Y order, drop a comment below with your delivery date and thoughts. Missed the September 30th cutoff but still qualify for the credit? Email me via my channel page or DM on socials—I might be able to point you in the right direction.
What do you think of these updates? Excited for the 2026 refreshes or the potential $25K Tesla? Let me know in the comments!
