Hey everyone, DennisCW here! I’m thrilled to share the latest Tesla app update (version 4.45.0) and some exciting features for iPhone users, along with my top recommendations for Tesla accessories. Whether you’re a new Tesla owner or a long-time enthusiast, there’s something in this update—and this post—for you. Let’s dive in!
If you’re an iPhone user, you’re in for a treat with the latest Tesla app update (4.45.0). Tesla is now utilizing the Dynamic Island with Live Activities, making it easier than ever to monitor your charging status on the go. When you’re charging at a Supercharger (or in some general charging scenarios), a handy live widget pops up right in the Dynamic Island. Here’s what it shows:
This feature is super convenient, especially if you’re multitasking or need a quick glance at your charging status without opening the app. It’s currently tailored for Supercharging, but I’m hopeful Tesla expands this functionality to other charging scenarios in future updates.
A quick shoutout to my friend Mark for testing this out! If you’re charging at a Supercharger during a specific time-of-use window (for example, 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at a rate of, say, 50 cents per kWh), you might assume the rate automatically adjusts after 8:00 PM if it drops to, let’s say, 30 cents. Spoiler alert: It doesn’t.
To get the updated, lower rate, you need to physically unplug your Tesla and plug it back in after the time window changes. Tesla hasn’t yet configured the app or system to automatically adjust the rate, so keep this little hack in mind to save a few bucks during off-peak hours.
Speaking of charging, I came across a Cybertruck at a Supercharger recently, showing about 1 hour and 10 minutes left to charge up to 77%. The owner might even have free Supercharging, similar to my friend Jim with his Foundation Series Cybertruck. If you’ve got free Supercharging, that’s a slick deal! I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new app features or your charging experiences—drop a comment below.
Whether you’ve just bought a Tesla or are about to, the second most exciting part (after driving it, of course) is decking it out with accessories. There are tons of options out there—honestly, probably too many. So, I’ve narrowed it down to my top 3 must-have Tesla accessories to make your ownership experience even better. Plus, I’ve got links and discount codes for all my recommendations in the description below and on page two of our Best Deals Spreadsheet.
If you’re only going to buy one accessory, make it a set of all-weather floor mats. Tesla interiors are sleek and minimalist, but they’re not immune to dirt, mud, or spills. A good set of floor mats will protect your investment and keep your car looking pristine. I’ve categorized my recommendations into three tiers:
A reliable phone mount is essential for navigation and hands-free use. Tesla’s minimalist dashboard means there’s no built-in spot for your phone, so a good mount keeps everything accessible and safe. Check out the options from Jowa (link below)—we use their mounts on all our Teslas, and they’re fantastic.
Tesla doesn’t come with a pre-installed center console organizer, which can make storage a bit chaotic. A center console tray is a game-changer for keeping your essentials organized—think keys, sunglasses, or charging cables. Again, Jowa has a great option that we’ve installed in all our Teslas. It’s a small addition that makes a big difference.
A huge thank you to everyone who has used our links and discount codes to purchase accessories or other Tesla gear. Your support means the world to me and helps keep this channel running. All the links, promo codes, and recommendations are in the description below or on our Best Deals Spreadsheet (page two). Don’t miss out on snagging some high-quality gear at a discount!
The Tesla app update 4.45.0 with Dynamic Island integration is a fantastic step forward for iPhone users, making charging updates more seamless than ever. And if you’re looking to enhance your Tesla experience, start with my top three accessories: all-weather floor mats, phone mounts, and center console organizers. What do you think of the new app features? Have a favorite Tesla accessory I didn’t mention? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear from you!
Thanks for reading, and I’ll catch you in the next post!
