Hey everyone, Dennis here from DennisCW! Welcome back to another update packed with the latest news in the world of Tesla and electric vehicles (EVs). In today’s post, we’re diving into Tesla’s decision to limit 48-hour test drives, inventory updates, exciting new products, and much more. Let’s get started!
First up, Tesla has announced they’re putting restrictions on their popular 48-hour test drive program in the US. They’re now limiting it to one per person, and any additional reservations will be canceled. If you’ve booked a test drive recently, I recommend double-checking to ensure it’s still valid. Some locations are canceling test drives due to limited inventory, especially for models like the Cybertruck, Model S, and Model X. However, with plenty of Model Ys in stock, you’re likely safe if that’s the vehicle you’re testing.
This move isn’t entirely surprising, as Tesla seems to be managing inventory and ensuring serious buyers get priority. What do you think about this change? Let me know in the comments!
While browsing the Tesla website, I noticed a new inventory filter for the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) Model Y. Does this mean we’ll see RWD inventory soon? I’m skeptical. The build-your-own page still shows a 3-5 week delivery timeline, and I haven’t seen any VINs assigned for RWD orders. If you’ve got a RWD on order or have a VIN, drop a comment—I’d love to hear about it! I’m especially curious about deliveries in the California/Los Angeles area. Could this be the best value Tesla in the future? Only time will tell, especially with the current 1.99% financing on all-wheel drive models.
In other Model Y news, a cool (pun intended) video surfaced showing a Model Y cooler debuted in the Korean market. It’s essentially a bucket for now, but I’m hopeful Tesla might introduce a powered cooling product utilizing trunk space. What do you think about this accessory idea?
If you’re about to buy a Model Y and want to protect it, check out Tesbros’ Juniper Paint Protection Film (PPF) DIY Kit. With options like Essentials, Partial, Front, and Full Coverage, you can save thousands compared to professional installations (which can cost $4,000–$6,000 or more). Switching gears to the Cybertruck, inventory seems to be stacking up across the US. A recent article highlighted a Detroit suburb parking lot filled with Cybertrucks, and I’ve noticed similar scenes at Tesla lots near me. The Cybertruck is currently Tesla’s most stocked vehicle, followed by the Model X, Model S, Model Y (over 1,000 in inventory), and Model 3. Are you waiting for a better Cybertruck deal like I am? Let me know your thoughts!
I’m thrilled to announce I’ll be at EVFest 2025 this Saturday from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. We’re working with Unplugged Performance and showcasing some awesome rims. If you’re in the area, swing by and say hi—I’d love to meet you!

Big news from Elon Musk: he’s announced his departure as a special government employee for DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency). In his statement, he thanked President Donald Trump for the opportunity and noted that the DOGE mission will strengthen over time. What does this mean for Tesla and Elon’s other companies? I anticipate more changes in incentives and marketing from Tesla in the near future. Share your predictions in the comments!
If you’ve just bought a Tesla or are about to, did you know it comes with zero accessories? Not even a phone mount! Don’t worry—I’ve got you covered with some must-haves from my partner Joah. Here are my top picks:
Joah also offers a wireless game controller, portable air compressor, and even an electric scooter for those long walks from chargers. Use my promo code below for savings and free shipping on orders over $120. Thanks to Joah for partnering with the channel!
In non-Tesla news, Rivian is doubling down with up to $16,000 off on select vehicles through May 31st. Their updated website now shows real-time inventory discounts and payment calculations for leases. For example, a Rivian with a $500 down payment could cost $778/month (though some require higher down payments like $9,000). If you’re considering a Rivian, don’t forget to use a referral code for an extra $500 off—link below!
A refreshed Model S Plaid was recently spotted in Northern California, showcasing insane acceleration, red brakes, and a new front bumper design with a split spoiler and carbon fiber accents. Updates to the Model S and X include new colors, grills, ambient lighting, and a front bumper camera. I’m not overly excited about these changes unless Tesla drops the price by $10,000–$20,000 to make it more accessible and undercut competitors. A refresh release could come as early as June, potentially leading to deals on older Model S and X inventory. What’s your take on this refresh?
The latest Tesla app update (version 4.45.0) for iPhone users now utilizes the Dynamic Island with live activities. When supercharging, a widget displays charge rate, time left, and cost—super handy! A quick tip: if you’re charging during time-of-use pricing (e.g., 50 cents from 1-8 PM, dropping to 30 cents after), you must unplug and replug to get the updated rate. The app doesn’t automatically adjust. Have you tried this feature yet?
Exciting news for autonomous driving fans: Tesla’s long-awaited RoboTaxi service is set to debut in Austin, Texas, on June 12th, according to Bloomberg. A test vehicle was recently operated on public roads with no driver—just a Tesla engineer in the passenger seat. I can’t wait to experience this in person, whether in Austin or when it rolls out to California. This could also boost hype for Full Self-Driving (FSD). Are you excited about RoboTaxi? Let me know!
Thanks to everyone who’s been engaging in the comments and live streams!
