Tesla just flipped the switch on its referral program, giving both existing and new owners a direct path to free FSD.
The company shut down the old points-based system and replaced it with a straightforward FSD-focused offer. Existing owners who use the referral link get one month of full self-driving capability to test. New buyers referred through the program also receive the same trial.
What the Tesla referral program update actually changes
Instead of vague credits, Tesla is now pushing the new Tesla FSD promotion hard. The goal is clear: more people need to experience FSD, especially with V14 rolling out. Many owners still keep both hands on the wheel because they haven't tried it yet. This update forces the issue by making the trial easy to activate.
For current Tesla owners, the process is simple. Click the referral link, add the trial to your vehicle, and drive. After the month you decide whether to keep it. New owners get the same one-month window once their car is delivered.
How this helps Tesla owners right now
The timing is interesting. Tesla doesn't need extra help selling cars, yet it clearly needs momentum on FSD adoption. This Tesla free FSD referral deal gives owners a low-risk way to test the feature and decide if it's worth the subscription.
If you're an existing owner looking to refer friends or family, the same link works both ways. You help someone get the trial and you receive it yourself.
Another strong offer running alongside is the Tesla Starlink Mini deal. Owners can grab the discounted Mini for $149 and earn a $100 credit through the referral route.

Bottom line
The old referral program is gone. This new version is built entirely around getting more people on FSD quickly. If you've been curious but hesitant, the Tesla free FSD referral deal removes the cost barrier for a full month.
More updates are likely as Tesla continues refining how it markets autonomy. For now, the window is open.
