Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you've been following my YouTube channel, you know I'm all about diving deep into the world of Tesla and electric vehicles. In my latest video, I broke down the Full Self-Driving (FSD) experience across different Tesla models, and I wanted to share those insights in this blog post. Whether you're a current owner or shopping for your first Tesla, understanding how FSD performs on each model can make a big difference. Plus, I'll touch on some must-have accessories to enhance your Tesla ownership. Let's jump in!
Full Self-Driving is finally here, but it's not created equal across all Tesla models. Shoutout to Brendan for sharing his experiences with FSD version 13.2.9 on every Tesla—he's ranked them based on real-world use, and it aligns perfectly with what I've observed. Here's the tier list from best to worst for maximizing FSD on your daily drives:
Model Y - This one's a standout winner. If your goal is seamless FSD for commuting, the Model Y handles it like a champ. It's reliable, smooth, and just feels right for everyday navigation.
Model 3 - A very close second. It's neck-and-neck with the Model Y, but it edges out slightly due to the lack of a front camera (though that could change soon—fingers crossed!). Still, it's an excellent choice for most drivers.
Model S - Tesla's flagship sedan comes in third. Even the brand-new versions don't quite match the agility of the Y or 3 in FSD scenarios. It's surprising for such a premium model, but it holds its own.
Model X - Right behind the S, the X is solid but falls short in the same ways. Great for families, but FSD performance isn't its strongest suit compared to the more compact models.
Cybertruck - Bringing up the rear. Its massive size makes it trickier for FSD to navigate tight roads and urban environments. I haven't driven it myself, but based on feedback, it needs more time to optimize.
This ranking is all about how well FSD integrates with each model's design and handling. If you're prioritizing autonomy, start with the Model Y or 3.
At the end of the day, FSD is an incredible feature—especially if you drive a lot. We're talking at least an hour round trip daily to really see the benefits. It turns tedious commutes into hands-off relaxation. If you're a work-from-home type or have short drives, skip the $8,000 outright purchase and go for the $100 monthly subscription. You can activate it when needed and cancel anytime.
Quick tip: If you're taking delivery of a Tesla in the next week or two and want FSD at 50% off, DM me on Instagram! I can point you in the right direction to snag that deal.
I used to be skeptical about FSD, but after extensive testing, I'm a full believer now. It's come a long way. What about you? Drop your thoughts in the comments—did you add FSD to your Tesla, or are you holding off?
One thing Tesla doesn't tell you: Your new ride comes with zero accessories. Not even a basic phone mount! But don't sweat it—I've got recommendations to make your Tesla even better. These are must-haves for any owner:
