Hey everyone, DennisCW here! You might have seen the viral post claiming "Tesla is getting out of the car business" after they announced the discontinuation of the Model S and Model X. One viewer even shared they're thinking of canceling their Model Y order due to concerns over resale value and parts availability. Is this panic justified? Let's break it down.
The post makes some sense on the surface: Tesla is killing off the Model S and X, which have been staples in their lineup. With the company going all-in on robotaxis, Optimus robots, and other futuristic projects, could the Model 3 and Y be next on the chopping block? It's a valid long-term question—maybe 5, 10, or 20 years down the line—but not a short-term crisis.
Tesla has already clarified they'll continue full support for Model S and X owners, including service, parts, and software updates. No need to hit the panic button just yet.
Here's the key: Tesla isn't exiting cars right now. They're discontinuing two low-volume models (just 1.8% of global sales) to free up resources for game-changers like Optimus, which could generate multiple orders of magnitude more revenue at scale. Model 3 and Y? They're the cash cows driving most sales and funding these innovations. Ditching them would be suicide.
That said, it does feel like Tesla is dialing back on aggressive car sales. Incentives are light this January—no more option credits, free paint, or interiors. The 2.99% financing on Model Y is still solid for buyers, but leases? Not so much.
Check these Model Y lease payments:
Word on the street? These are jumping tonight. Lock in now with a $250 non-refundable deposit. And don't forget my Tesla referral code in the description for up to $1,000 off!
Compare to last year: Model 3 leases were as low as $249/month. Now? $449–$499. The "fire sale" days seem over—maybe this is the new normal.
Right now? Probably not ideal, especially early Q1. End-of-quarter might bring deals, but even that's iffy. If you're trading in an EV or Tesla, hit up Plug (link below)—they're paying $3K–$5K more than competitors, as proven by viewers.
New Teslas don't come with all-weather floor mats. My top pick? 3W Liners—best I've tested (beating 3D Maxpider, Tesmanian, etc.). Installed in my Model X, 3, Y, and Cybertruck. Use code DENNISCW for 25% off (under $100) and support the channel!
Tesla's pivot is exciting, not alarming. Cars like the Model Y remain rockstars. What do you think—canceling orders or holding steady? Drop your thoughts below, and subscribe for more Tesla updates!
