Hey everyone, DennisCW here! Today, I’m super excited to dive into the latest Tesla Model X Plaid. This electric SUV has always been a standout, and with some recent updates, there’s plenty to talk about. From unique features to subtle refreshes, let’s take a closer look at what makes this Model X special. If you’re a Tesla enthusiast or just curious about cutting-edge EV tech, stick around for the full breakdown!
One of the first things you’ll notice about the Model X is its iconic auto-present and auto-closing doors. This feature, unfortunately, isn’t available on models like the Model Y, and it’s something I genuinely miss. It adds a layer of convenience and futuristic flair that’s hard to beat. Watching those Falcon Wing doors open and close automatically never gets old—it’s a signature Tesla touch that sets the Model X apart.
Since this is the Plaid version, it comes with some sporty design elements that Tesla fans will appreciate. Carbon fiber accents are present both on the exterior and interior, a hallmark of the Plaid lineup. Inside, the carbon fiber trim is paired with ambient lighting (set to yellow during my review), creating a sleek and modern vibe. While the steering wheel design is similar to other Tesla models, I couldn’t help but wish for steer-by-wire or four-wheel steering to elevate the driving experience even further.
Navigating through the menus, the Model X feels very similar to the Model S. You’ve got custom settings, Plaid-specific options like Drag Strip Mode, and features like Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) with Hardware 4 integration. Charging options, locks, lights, and ambient lighting controls are all accessible through the intuitive interface. However, since I was filming in broad daylight, the ambient lighting wasn’t as visible—trust me, though, it looks stunning in the right conditions.
The seating configuration in this Model X includes captain’s chairs, adding a touch of luxury to the cabin. The interior is decked out in a clean white finish, which looks fantastic. Overall, the updates here are subtle but noticeable if you’re familiar with previous Model X versions. It’s a small refresh, but it keeps things feeling fresh and premium.
Moving to the backseat, there’s a dedicated screen for passengers, perfect for entertainment or controlling certain features. I noticed cup holders and looked for a wireless charger, though I couldn’t spot one right away. The backseat itself is slightly larger—about an inch more than the previous model—which might not sound like much but can make a difference in comfort.
In the trunk area, there’s ample storage space with compartments for organizing your gear. The trunk design has received small updates, maintaining the practicality that Model X owners love. While these changes aren’t groundbreaking, they’re thoughtful tweaks that enhance the overall user experience.
Overall, the updated Tesla Model X Plaid isn’t a complete overhaul, but it doesn’t need to be. The small refreshes to the interior, the continued use of carbon fiber in the Plaid trim, and unique features like the auto-present doors keep it a standout in Tesla’s lineup. If you’re considering a Model X or just want to see these updates in person, I highly recommend taking one for a test drive. Experiencing it firsthand is the best way to appreciate the subtle but impactful changes.
What do you think of the refreshed Model X Plaid? Are the auto-present doors a must-have for you, or are there other features you’d like to see in future updates?
