Hey everyone, welcome back to another update from DennisCW! I’m thrilled to have you here as we dive into some exciting Tesla news, focusing on the much-anticipated 1.99% financing for the brand-new Tesla Model Y Rear Wheel Drive (RWD). We’ll also cover a range of other topics, from inventory updates to Cybertruck theories and more. So, let’s get started!
The Tesla Model Y RWD, the most affordable variant, was just released a couple of days ago, and the buzz around potential 1.99% financing is real. While the offer hasn’t hit yet, I’ve got some insights and predictions on when we might see it roll out.
Unfortunately, there’s some bad news for those hoping to stack deals. The $2,000 loyalty offer, available on the All-Wheel Drive (AWD), cannot be combined with the 1.99% financing and isn’t even offered on the RWD at this time. This suggests Tesla believes demand for the RWD is strong—especially since it offers more range than the AWD for a lower price.
What do you think? When do you expect the 1.99% financing to drop for the Model Y RWD? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
Speaking of inventory, we’re seeing a buildup of Model Y AWD units on Tesla’s website—518 to be exact. This could indicate production outpacing demand, which often leads to incentives. While there are no major inventory discounts just yet (only minor $500-$600 off recently), I expect more demo vehicle discounts and Model Y price cuts in mid-May or as we approach the end of Q2 in June.
For deal hunters, don’t forget to check out my deal spreadsheet linked below for the best Model 3 and Model Y discounts—some as high as $5,600 off! And before you buy, use my Tesla referral code for 3 months of Full Self-Driving (FSD) on your new ride.
Tesla is rolling out workshops to help owners learn about the latest features—pretty cool if you want to dive deeper into your vehicle. On a more speculative note, there’s a theory floating around (thanks to Christian Ported) that Tesla might phase out Autopilot entirely, focusing solely on FSD as a paid feature. This would be a bold move since Autopilot is a major selling point for highway driving. What are your thoughts on this potential shift?
I’ve got mixed feelings about the Cybertruck. I drove one for 150 miles recently and loved the comfort and ease of driving—it’s honestly smoother than my Model Y! I highly recommend a test drive or a 2-day demo if you can. However, there are concerning signs:
Some fans speculate a 500-mile battery might be in the works, but at what cost? I’m curious to see what incentives Tesla might offer by year-end to boost Cybertruck sales. Are you still in the market for one? Let me know!
Great news for budget buyers! Tesla has dumped a ton of used inventory on their site, with many vehicles under $25,000 qualifying for the $4,000 used EV tax credit (income limits: $75K single, $150K married). Some even come with 3 months of FSD, free Supercharging, and Premium Connectivity. Prices start as low as $18,900, though financing rates are high at 8.19%. If you’re paying cash, these are steals—but for high-mileage cars, I recommend a warranty like Amber (more on that below).
Tesla isn’t the only one with inventory piling up. Rivian’s special edition Dune (R1S and R1T) is now available in inventory for quick delivery, priced between $99,000 and $106,000. While I love the bone white color (maybe a future Cybertruck wrap idea?), the high price tag limits the market. If you’re interested, use a Rivian referral code (linked below) to save. Would you buy one at this price? Let me know!
