Hey everyone, DennisCW here! Yesterday, we dove into the exciting launch of the Tesla Model Y L—the longer, six-seater version that's already hitting roads in eight countries. Today, let's break down the international pricing and speculate on what it might cost when (and if) it arrives in the US by Q3 or Q4 this year.
The Model Y L is rolling out from Tesla's China factory, so it's no surprise it's first available in Asian markets and a few others like Australia and New Zealand. Converted to USD, the prices vary wildly due to taxes, incentives, and local factors:
| Country | Price (USD) | |---------------|-------------| | China | ~$49,000 | | Australia | ~$51,000 | | Others | $46,000 - $72,700 (up to New Zealand) |
No launches yet in Europe, the UK, or the US, but Elon Musk hinted at more markets later this year. Fingers crossed for North America!
If the Model Y L comes stateside, where will it slot in? Current US Model Y lineup:
The Model Y L is bigger, more premium, and family-focused—potentially even a Model X alternative for some. It can't undercut the standard Y too much, so I'm betting on $56,990 to $57,990, right under Performance. Or, they could go higher: $64,990 for the extra space and seating.
Don't think that's crazy—check the price history:
Range is possible: $55K-$65K. What do you think? Drop your predictions in the comments!
