Hey everyone, Dennis here from DennisCW! Welcome back to the blog. If you're into Tesla deal hacking like I am, you've probably noticed some frustrating changes lately. Tesla just made leasing a Model Y even more expensive, jacking up monthly payments on the popular trims. But there's good news too: the refreshed Model Y snagged Best Electric Vehicle of 2026 from Consumer Reports already! We'll dive into that, plus Cybertruck fire trucks, Roadster redesign rumors, and more. Let's break it down.
Just when we thought incentives might improve post-February 2nd, Tesla went the opposite direction. Check out these increases:
The Performance and base models stayed at $459 and $499, but it's still a step backward. Remember when Premium AWD leases were around $450 with zero down? Those days feel long gone.
My predictions:
Advice: Not the time to lease. Wait for Q1 end or better – deals historically peak in Nov-Dec. If buying, use my Tesla referral link for up to $1,000 off!
Also, FSD full-purchase ($8K) is vanishing fast – only ~10 days left. Subscriptions are pushing in, and used Teslas from Tesla no longer offer outright buys.
It's only January, but Consumer Reports already named the refreshed 2026 Model Y the top EV:
"Continuing its reign as the best-selling electric vehicle, the Model Y combines a practical yet sleek hatchback, long-range driving, sports car-level performance, and access to the widespread Tesla Supercharging network. The latest Model Y gained numerous updates."
The Juniper refresh shines in build quality, range, and performance. If you're upgrading from an older Y, this is the one. Owners: How's your new Model Y treating you?
FSD is winning converts. One driver ditched funnier cars for a beater Model 3 with FSD – it's that relaxing. Worth $8K now before prices/subscriptions dominate? For new buys, yes – especially with transfer options. But skip for older models unless you're all-in.
Lake Alfred, FL, bought a Cybertruck brush truck for $131K (vs. $300K gas equivalent)!
First in the US – huge savings, lower maintenance, and epic marketing. Would you want a Cybertruck cop or fire truck in your town?
Tesla filed trademarks hinting at a next-gen Roadster – sketches show changes from the 2017 prototype. SpaceX collab? Flying capabilities? April unveil could blow minds. Excited?
Grab the Year of the Horse Robotaxi toy from Tesla's site – now in the US! More Lunar New Year gear too.
Incentives could shift to 0-1.99% APR or freebies soon. Used EV prices are rising – sell high now. Drop your thoughts: Leasing now or waiting? FSD buy or sub?
