Hey everyone, DennisCW here! Today, I’m diving into the hot topic of 1.99% financing for the brand-new Tesla Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD). This offer hasn’t dropped yet, but I’ve got some insights on when it might happen, along with tips to help you prepare if you’re in the market for this affordable Tesla. Let’s break it down!
Just a couple of days ago, Tesla released the Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive, the most budget-friendly version of the popular electric SUV. While it’s an exciting addition to the lineup, there are a few things to note right off the bat:
With these fluctuations in inventory and demand, I’ve put together my best guess on when we might see that coveted 1.99% financing for the RWD variant. Let’s get into the timeline and strategy behind my prediction.
Based on current delivery estimates and Tesla’s past behavior, here’s my take on when the 1.99% financing might become available for the Model Y RWD:
Tesla often adjusts promotions based on delivery timelines and quarterly performance. For the RWD Model Y, deliveries need to start rolling out—whether it’s the base model or pricier colors like red—before financing offers are introduced. Historically, Tesla has over- or under-promised on delivery dates, sometimes delivering earlier than expected. If we see the first RWD units hit the streets by late May or early June, the financing could follow soon after to capitalize on the momentum. Additionally, Tesla tends to push incentives in the second month of a quarter (like May right now) or at the end (June), so keep an eye out!
Here’s a bit of a bummer for potential buyers. The $2,000 loyalty offer, which some of you might have been eyeing for the AWD Model Y, cannot be stacked with the 1.99% financing and, as of now, is not available for the RWD model. I confirmed this with a Tesla representative (though, as always, take frontline info with a grain of salt). This suggests Tesla might be banking on higher demand for the RWD due to its impressive range and feature set compared to the AWD, despite lacking the dual-motor system.
Speaking of demand, the Model 3 RWD already has a 1-3 week waitlist, so it’s not hard to believe the Model Y RWD could follow a similar trend. If demand stays high, Tesla might not feel the need to introduce 1.99% financing at all—or at least not anytime soon.
As it stands, the AWD Model Y might be the smarter pick if you’re financing. With 1.99% already available and only a $4,000 price difference between the AWD and RWD, the numbers lean in favor of the AWD—especially if you can snag that $2,000 loyalty offer when paying cash. What do you think? Does the RWD’s extra range outweigh the current AWD perks? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
While I didn’t spot any major inventory discounts for the Model Y at the time of recording (just some minor $500-$600 off recently), I expect more to pop up as we hit the middle of the month. Tesla often lists demo vehicles or offers small price cuts during this time. For the best deals on Model 3s (up to $5,600 off) and potential Model Y discounts, check out my deal spreadsheet linked in the video description. And don’t forget to use my Tesla referral code for three months of Full Self-Driving (FSD) when you place your $250 deposit!
If you’re planning to finance a Tesla, there’s one critical step you need to take first: protect your credit. Recently, Bank of America had a data breach and didn’t notify customers for a month. On average, companies wait 277 days—over 9 months—to report breaches, leaving your personal info (like your Social Security number or email) vulnerable without your knowledge.
That’s why I use Aura, today’s sponsor. Aura constantly scans the dark web for my info and alerts me if anything tied to me—like my bank details or Social Security number—shows up. Beyond breach protection, Aura offers tools to reduce spam calls, remove personal data from sketchy broker sites, and even provides up to $5 million in identity theft insurance. Everything is bundled into one easy-to-use app. You can try Aura free for 14 days at aura.com/denniscw—I’ve linked it in the description. Don’t wait until it’s too late to protect your identity. It’s like turning on Sentry Mode after your car’s already been keyed. I’m using Aura, and you should too!
So, when do you think 1.99% financing will drop for the Tesla Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive? Do you agree with my June-to-August timeline, or do you think Tesla will surprise us sooner? What about additional promotions or inventory discounts for the Model Y? I’d love to hear your predictions and thoughts in the comments below. And if you’re in the market for a Tesla, don’t forget to check out the deals and referral code in the description.
Thanks for reading, and I’ll catch you in the next post!
