Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you've owned a Tesla, you know the struggle: that paint is notoriously thin and prone to scratches. Today, I'm diving into the issues with Tesla's factory paint and sharing how I took my brand-new 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance in Diamond Black to OC Tint Solutions for a full stealth paint protection film (PPF) install. Spoiler: it turned my Model Y into a Batmobile-level beast!
Tesla vehicles have always had paint quality complaints. Here's why:
One of the light scratches on the rear quarter panel from factory rocks.
I already did a full frontal PPF (bumper, hood, etc.) shortly after delivery, but for full protection, we went all-in on the entire body.
OC Tint Solutions is my go-to spot for Tesla mods—they handle tint, PPF, and more. We dropped off the Model Y for a one-week stealth PPF job using 3M Matte (more of a satin finish, which I love).
This isn't just any wrap:
Pro tip: Ask for the "Dentist Deal" (link in bio) for hookup!
PPF isn't a quick DIY—it's meticulous:
Fender and bumper already stealth-ed—game changer!
Check out their work on a white Porsche Taycan—it looked straight out of Star Wars.
After 5 days, pickup time! 🚀
Diamond Black under 3M Matte = fighter jet vibes.
Parked in the California sun, the film "heals" with heat, bonding perfectly. No more rock chips or swirls!
I was skeptical about stealth on a Tesla, but this 2026 Model Y Performance now looks like a Batmobile crossed with a stealth fighter. If you're highway-driving or just want to preserve that factory-fresh shine, full PPF (or at least front) is a must.
Minimum spend? Front PPF or ceramic. But for max protection? Go full stealth like this.
Head to OC Tint Solutions and mention the Dentist Deal. What do you think of the look—love it or nah? Drop a comment!
Stay charged, DennisCW
