It's kind of sad to hear that Tesla is discontinuing the Model S and Model X. We all knew the market for these flagship vehicles wasn't massive, but are they even that exciting anymore? Do people really care? Don't get me wrong—these cars are great. But after owning 9-10 Teslas across the lineup (including multiple Model Ys, Cybertrucks, a Model Y Performance, S, X, and 3), I've got strong opinions on how they stack up.
I was chatting with a friend recently who's got one kid and was eyeing the Model X's third row—especially now that it's getting killed off. My advice? Skip it. The Cybertruck has killer utility, a spacious back seat, and you don't need that tiny (and honestly, kinda dangerous) third row unless you absolutely have to.
Here's how I'd rank all the Teslas I've owned, prioritizing technology, driving comfort, space, utility, and overall experience:
Cybertruck 🔥
Model S or Model Y (they flip-flop)
Model Y or Model S (the runner-up of the two above)
Model X
Model 3
Low sales volume makes sense—these aren't volume sellers like the 3 and Y. Tesla needs to fill the gap with something bigger than the Robotaxi van. Families are jumping to rivals like the Rivian R1S or Lucid Gravity, which crush it in space and family-friendly features.
