Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you've been following my channel, you know I'm all about diving deep into the world of electric vehicles, especially Tesla's latest innovations. Today, I'm thrilled (and a bit frustrated) to share my first-hand experience with the brand-new 2024 Foundation Series Tesla Cybertruck that we just took delivery of. This isn't some review after weeks of driving— this is straight from the delivery center, same day, after a quick hour-long drive from LA. Spoiler alert: it's not all smooth sailing. Let's break down everything that was wrong with it right out of the gate.
First off, this Cybertruck is new—as in, 30 miles on the odometer at pickup. We snagged it during a special deal that includes free Supercharging and other perks, which made it a no-brainer. (Check out my full delivery video for the details on why we pulled the trigger—it's a solid value when you factor everything in.) But as soon as we got our hands on it, the imperfections started jumping out.
The truck arrived looking like it had been through a dusty adventure already. It wasn't very clean, with fingerprints smeared all over the stainless steel body. There were weird blemishes and what looked like some kind of spatter (mud? Who knows—it was bizarre). The delivery team did put some shine on the plastic trim pieces and tires, which was a nice touch, and it came with the Foundation Series 35-inch tires complete with wheel caps already installed. That's a win, considering those caps aren't always included.
Diving deeper, after just a few hours with the truck, we noticed several fit-and-finish issues:
We've already reported all these to Tesla, and the earliest service appointment is two weeks out. Fingers crossed they address everything, including any outstanding recalls like the cantrails (we'll confirm during the visit).
Inside, it's mostly a cleanliness issue. The cabin was dusty and dirty, which is disappointing for a new vehicle. No major structural problems, but the wireless charger is already faulty and needs replacement—apparently, it's a known issue with a new version available.
Overall, this is still an incredible machine—it's a Tesla Cybertruck, after all! The futuristic design, insane performance, and those Foundation Series perks make it exciting. But if you're eyeing one, especially a Foundation Series model, temper your expectations. Even with low miles, don't assume it'll be flawless out of the box. Delivery centers can be hit or miss, and ours felt a bit rushed.
I'll keep you updated on the service appointment and how Tesla handles these fixes. Have you picked up a Cybertruck? What was your experience like? Drop a comment below, and don't forget to subscribe to my channel for more EV adventures. Drive safe!
