Hey everyone, Dennis here from DennisCW! If you're in the market for a Tesla—new or used—you've probably noticed the buzz around prices lately. With the federal tax credits winding down, things are shifting fast. In this post, based on my latest video, we'll dive into whether used Tesla prices are crashing, which model years might actually appreciate short-term, and some insider tips on snagging the best deals. Plus, I'll touch on exciting updates like Full Self-Driving (FSD) version 14 and affordable leasing options. Let's get into it!
The $7,500 federal tax credit and the $4,000 used EV tax credit both expired on September 30th. This has everyone asking: Will used Tesla prices crash?
For Budget Buyers ($20K–$25K Range): Yes, expect a drop. These prices were inflated due to the $4,000 credit, which represented a huge percentage of the cost. Dealers and buyers were scrambling, pushing values up artificially. Data from CarGurus shows Tesla used prices spiked 7–14% year-over-year in recent weeks—unnatural growth that screams correction. If you're eyeing an older Tesla in this range, hold off; prices should normalize soon.
For Newer Models (1–2 Years Old, Like 2025–2026): Surprisingly, these might increase short-term. Without the $7,500 credit on new Teslas, used ones look more appealing. Case in point: My friend Jose sold his 2026 Model Y for $45K after lowball offers of $38K–$40K pre-credit end. Post-October 1st, bids jumped to $42K–$43K. MSRP on new Model Ys is higher now, closing the gap and boosting demand for recent used models. But remember, depreciation will kick in eventually—this is temporary.
I chatted with dealers via Josh from Cheap Teslas, and opinions vary: Some predict softer prices without rebates, others think sales will hold steady since credits weren't always around. One dealer noted buyers will push prices down to compensate. What do you think? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
Check out this CarGurus index chart—used Tesla prices (blue line) surged as the credits neared their end, outpacing the overall market (gray line). Model Ys saw 9–12% jumps. What goes up must come down, especially for older Teslas. If you're shopping, patience could save you thousands.
On a lighter note, let's talk customizations! I spotted an awesome Nardo wrap on a Model Y via our Discord group—it's a DIY colored PPF kit from Tesbros. Perfect for protecting your ride while adding style. Save thousands by installing it yourself—front bumper, full frontal, or whole car. Use my link and promo code below for discounts!
Also, check out the new Cyber Nova wheels from Unplugged Performance on my Cybertruck. They're more efficient, and I love the green-with-gold vibe. They even have a wheel trade-in program: Ship your stock wheels for $1,000 credit. And don't forget Road Warrior wheels with removable curbs for us curb-hitters!

Elon announced FSD (Supervised) v14 drops Monday—delayed from Friday to add features. Kudos to the team! Early glimpses show a gold glow on routes in robotaxis, differentiating from the blue lines. Can't wait to test it—FSD is a game-changer.
If you're pending delivery and want FSD half-off, email me via my channel page.
Tesla's touting a $39,990 Model Y as "affordable," but is it? Poll results: 63.4% say $29,990 is truly affordable (half the average car price!). But honestly, buyers care more about low payments—$199/month with 0% financing moves cars faster than a sticker price. Would you prefer a cheap MSRP or killer financing? Tesla might be planning just that to boost residuals and deals.
Even post-credit, Tesla offers used leases like $197/month via $3,500–$4,500 incentives (12–24 months). Fine print: Subject to change. Great for short-term, but watch high-mileage ones—they may require warranties. Compare to new inventory using a referral code (mine below) for up to $1,000 off.
Ordered before September 30th? You can switch to Performance in the app and keep the $7,500 credit (at your own risk—check the binding agreement). It morphs into the existing order. Missed the deadline? Email me—I might help.
The used Tesla market is volatile post-credits, with crashes for older models and short-term gains for newer ones. Stay informed, use my links for deals, and enter the giveaway!
