Hey everyone, DennisCW here! Today, I want to talk about a topic I’ve revisited and, honestly, had to rethink: free supercharging with Tesla vehicles. I used to be skeptical about its value, but I’ve come to realize that free supercharging can indeed be a fantastic deal—especially for one specific Tesla model. Let’s dive into why I believe free supercharging is particularly worthwhile for the Tesla Cybertruck.
When it comes to Tesla’s lineup, the Cybertruck stands out for a couple of key reasons: its massive battery size and its relative inefficiency compared to other Tesla models. The Cybertruck has the largest battery of any Tesla vehicle, which means it requires a lot more energy to charge. On top of that, its energy consumption—measured in watt-hours per mile—is higher due to its size and weight. This inefficiency means you’ll be charging more often, whether at home or on the road.
For comparison, vehicles like the Model S or Model X also have large batteries (around 100 kWh), but they’re far more efficient in terms of energy usage. This makes the Cybertruck a unique candidate where free supercharging can truly make a financial difference.
To give you a sense of the savings, I want to share some exciting news (spoiler alert for those who haven’t seen my latest video yet): I recently purchased another Cybertruck, this time a Foundation Series, specifically to take advantage of the free supercharging offer. And let me tell you, the numbers are eye-opening.
A friend of mine, Machis, also picked up a Foundation Series Cybertruck. In just the past 31 days, he’s charged up a staggering 3,472 kilowatt-hours using free supercharging. To put that into perspective, that’s roughly equivalent to $2,000 in gas savings! If you’re someone who frequently takes road trips or even just does a lot of daily driving, the savings from free supercharging on a vehicle like the Cybertruck can add up incredibly fast.
One of the great things about Tesla’s Supercharger network, especially here in California where I’m based, is how widespread and accessible it has become. Superchargers are popping up everywhere, making it easy to integrate charging into your daily routine. Need to run to the grocery store, hit up the bank, or drop off a package at UPS? You can often find a Supercharger nearby and top off your battery in just 20 to 30 minutes while you handle your errands. This convenience factor makes free supercharging even more appealing for Cybertruck owners, as it saves both time and money compared to charging at home.
If you’re considering a Foundation Series Cybertruck, there’s another potential bonus to keep in mind. While the Cybertruck doesn’t qualify for the standard $7,500 federal tax credit on its own, you might be eligible for a business-related $7,500 credit if you use the vehicle for business purposes. Combining this with free supercharging could make the Cybertruck an even smarter investment.
For those of you eyeing other Tesla models, I’ll be upfront: free supercharging isn’t as compelling for vehicles like the Model 3 or Model Y. These cars are more efficient and have smaller batteries, so the cost savings from supercharging are less significant. Plus, newer Tesla purchases generally don’t come with free supercharging anyway, so this perk is mostly relevant for specific deals or older referral programs.
While we’re on the topic of Tesla ownership, I want to give a quick shoutout to one of my favorite accessories: all-weather floor mats by 3W Liners. I’ve tested a ton of floor mats over the years—from 3D Maxpider, Tesmanian, and various Amazon brands—and 3W Liners are hands-down the best. I’ve got them installed in my Model X, Model 3, Model Y, and, of course, my Cybertruck. They’re durable, fit perfectly, and keep my interiors looking pristine.
Even better, I’ve partnered with 3W Liners to offer you an exclusive deal. Use the promo code Dennis35 to get 35% off your purchase—their highest discount ever! You can snag a set for under $100 and support the channel at the same time. Check out the link in the description of my video or below this post for more details.
So, to wrap things up, I’ve come around on the value of free supercharging—but only for the Tesla Cybertruck. Its large battery and lower efficiency make it the perfect candidate for maximizing savings at Supercharger stations. If you’re in the market for a Cybertruck, especially a Foundation Series, I highly recommend looking into deals that include free supercharging. It’s a game-changer for both your wallet and your driving experience.
What do you think? Are you considering a Cybertruck with free supercharging, or do you have a different Tesla model in mind? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
