Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you're like me and eagerly awaiting your Tesla Model Y Performance, you've probably noticed the buzz about delays. No one has taken delivery yet, despite confirmed dates popping up in the app. Let's break down what's happening, share some updates from Giga Factory, and talk about my own order.

The Reason Behind the Delay: Safety Equipment Hold

According to reports from Tesla Drive Tesla Canada and other sources, Model Y Performance deliveries in the US are on hold due to a safety equipment check. Here's the key message Tesla is sending to affected owners:

"Your car has arrived, but there's a hold on it to ensure that some safety equipment was installed correctly at the factory. Once that part arrives and the service is completed, your Tesla app will notify you when it's ready to schedule pickup."

We've seen cases where people had VINs assigned (even as recently as last night!) and delivery dates, only to have orders reassigned or get turned away at pickup. Sales and delivery staff aren't always looped in on these fixes, leading to frustration.

Despite the hiccups, production isn't stopping. Drone videos from Joe show tons of black Model Y Performances piling up at Giga Factory. (Shoutout to that fence keeping us from getting too close! 😅) This means Tesla is cranking them out, but quality checks are holding things back.

Is one of these mine? We have a black Model Y Performance on order (interior color TBD). Fingers crossed!

It's December 5th as I record this. I don't expect deliveries until mid to late next week – think December 8-14. We're stalking the lot daily and will share updates.
